The Journey of a Visual Creator
Hello and welcome to my blog, “From Vision to Visuals: Charting My Creative Transformation”. I’m a husband to one of the greatest women on the planet, father of seven, a grandfather to eight, a retired Marine, and now, embarking on a new chapter in my life as I pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a visual creator. With no formal schooling in graphic design but a heart full of passion and a lifetime of experiences, I’m setting out to transform this dream into reality.
My journey into the world of visual creation isn’t starting from scratch. In fact, it traces back to my early childhood, a time when my fascination with drawing first emerged. I remember spending countless hours with pencil and paper, sketching everything that caught my eye. (Mostly drawing KISS posters) This early passion for drawing was more than just a hobby; it was a way for me to express myself, to capture the world as I saw it through my young eyes. It was during these formative years that I developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of visual storytelling, long before I knew anything about graphic design or visual communication.
Despite the winding road my life has taken—from the disciplined life of a Marine to the challenges and joys of raising a large family and forging a career in IT—my love for creating and drawing has remained a constant, quietly shaping my aspirations and dreams. Now, at this turning point (mid life crisis), I’m ready to reconnect with that early passion, to refine it with skills and techniques I have yet to learn, and to see where this renewed journey into the world of visual arts will take me.
So, as I embark on this initial 90-day challenge to evolve from enthusiast to accomplished visual creator, I invite you to join me. Together, we’ll explore the realms of graphic design, photography, and beyond. From the basics of design principles to the complexities of digital painting and branding, this blog will serve as a chronicle of my learning process, the challenges I face, and the milestones I achieve.
Thank you for being here. Let’s create and share something beautiful together.
